CITB – Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme
Who is it for
The SSSTS course is for you if you’re considering, or already have, supervisory responsibilities.
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course provides site supervisors an introduction to health and safety, welfare and environmental issues for those requiring an understanding of their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. SSSTS will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site.
Pre-Requisites: The minimum entry equipment is a good understanding of spoken and written English
The SSSTS (Site Supervisor’s Safety Training Scheme) is a 2 day site safety training course.

Health & Safety at Work Act
The Role of the Supervisor
Behavioral Safety in the Workplace
Site Inductions & Toolbox Talks
Risk assessments and the need for method statements
Monitor site activities effectively
What to expect on the course
The SSSTS course has a plenty of discussions, best practice sharing, syndicate exercises and case studies.
Some of the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course content will require delegates to compile and present their understanding of how to comply with current legislation for assessment by presenting tool box talks and a planning exercise.
During the Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme course, projects are undertaken in groups and constantly assessed by the course tutor.
At the conclusion of the course, delegates are required to undertake a short multiple choice assessment.
By the end of the course
You will have an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It highlights legal responsibilities and the need to promote health and safety to supervise effectively and by the end of the course you will have an understanding of:
- Health and safety law and how it applies to supervisors
- Supervisory responsibilities in controlling site safely
- Risk assessments and the need for method statements
- Effective site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
- Monitoring site activities effectively
Qualifications you gain
At the end of the course delegates are required to sit an exam paper consisting of 25 questions, of which 4 are safety critical and require a short written answer.
Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to take a refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.
SSSTS – Construction Site Supervisor Safety Certificate will be awarded to those persons who successfully complete the course.
Full attendance throughout the duration of the training is required.

The Enterprise Centre is on the Castledown Business Park at the eastern end of Salisbury Plain, five miles from Andover and ten miles from Salisbury and four miles from the A303. Making it really accessible from all the surrounding towns and cities.
Union Jack Club, Sandell Street, London, SE1 8UJ
The Union Jack Club is located in Sandell Street directly opposite the Waterloo Station ticket hall for the Jubilee underground Line. Cross Waterloo Road at the traffic lights and Sandell Street is 10 metres to your left and the entrance to the Club is 15 metres down Sandell Street on the right hand side.
