IOSH Working Safely Course information

This IOSH Working Safely course is intended for personnel at all levels in all organisations. It may be arranged for apprentices, adult workers, office staff or supervisors who have had no formal safety and health training.


What is covered

The course is made up of theoretical sessions delivered by your Instructor who will provide a detailed course programme at the start of the course.  

Key modules of the IOSH Working Safely course include:

  • Introduction for working safely
  • Defining hazard and risk
  • Identifying common hazards and controls
  • Improving safety performance

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify why it is important to work safely
  • Identify everyone’s responsibilities in relation to health, safety and well-being in the workplace
  • Define key terms in health and safety
  • Identify workplace hazards and risks, their impact and how to control them
  • Identify ways in which health, safety and well-being are managed and improved within the workplace.

How is the IOSH Working Safely Course assessed

At the end of the IOSH Working course, delegates are required to undertake a multiple choice assessment and complete short risk assessment style activities.

Those who successfully complete the assessments at the end of the course are awarded an IOSH Certificate in Working Safely.

Is the IOSH Course for me

Get Your CSCS Card

The IOSH Working Safely course is recognised by CSCS as an equivalent course to the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course.

This means that once you have completed the 1 day Working Safely course, received your certificate and you have completed your touch screen test (book here) you can successfully apply for your card.

It can take 4-6 weeks to receive your IOSH Working Safely certificate and you won’t be able to apply for your CSCS card until you receive your certificate.

  1. Pass your CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test £19.50 (book here)
  2. Attend your 1 day health and safety course available from £150.
  3. Call 0344 994 4777 and apply for your card at a cost of £30.
