The NEBOSH Fire Certificate Online course is a popular qualification enabling you to broaden your knowledge and skills of fire safety. How Is the NEBOSH Fire Certificate Assessed?

The NEBOSH Fire Certificate is assessed in two parts: a written exam and a practical fire risk assessment.

Unit FSC1 – Written Examination

FSC1 is a taught unit, assessed by a two-hour written exam on the final day of your course. The exam includes:

  • Ten short-answer questions worth 8 marks each

  • One long-answer question worth 20 marks

  • All questions are compulsory
    Your paper is marked by external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.

Unit FSC2 – Fire Risk Assessment

FSC2 is a practical assessment completed in your own workplace. You’ll carry out a Fire Risk Assessment and submit it to Southwest Health and Safety Training within 10 working days of your FSC1 exam (Open Book Examination).

This assignment is externally assessed and moderated by NEBOSH.

It’s the learner’s responsibility to ensure the assessment is submitted on time. Missing the deadline will result in a fail for this unit.

There are no entry requirements for this NEBOSH qualification, however, it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.

NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
