The syllabus covers fire safety management, the principles of fire and explosion, common workplace fire hazards, fire risk assessment and practical fire safety controls and emergency arrangements.

Unit FSC1 – Fire Safety and Risk Management

  • Element 1: Managing fire safety
  • Element 2: Principles of fire and explosion
  • Element 3: Fuel, oxygen and ignition sources and control measures
  • Element 4: Fire protection in buildings
  • Element 5: Safety of people in the event of a fire
  • Element 6: Fire safety risk assessment

Unit FSC2 – Fire Safety Practical Application

How is the course assessed?

Assessment is through an FSC1 open-book written exam and an FSC2 practical fire risk assessment carried out in a real or realistic workplace.

Unit FSC1 is a taught unit assessed by an Open Book Examination(OBE). External examiners appointed by NEBOSH marks candidate scripts.

Unit FSC2 is assessed by a Fire Risk Assessment carried out in the delegate’s workplace.

The written practical has to be submitted to Southwest Health and Safety Training within 10 working days after the FSC1 exam.

How long does the course take to complete?

Our classroom NEBOSH Fire Certificate is delivered over four days, Monday to Thursday, with additional time allowed afterwards to complete the FSC2 practical assessment.

How much does the course cost?

The classroom course price includes tuition, course materials and exam fees for FSC1 and FSC2, with prices starting from £1000 and payment plans available to spread the cost.

Funding options may include employer sponsorship and support for eligible Armed Forces personnel or veterans; speak to our team or check our funding pages for current details.
