NEBOSH Construction Course Structure and Syllabus

The NEBOSH Construction Certificate is made up of one core unit:
Unit CN1 – Managing and Controlling Hazards in Construction Activities, which is assessed separately.

This unit is divided into 12 key elements:

  3. Movement of people and vehicles

  4. Manual and mechanical handling

  5. Work equipment – hazards and controls

  6. Electrical hazards and controls

  7. Fire hazards and controls

  8. Chemical and biological health hazards

  10. Working at height – hazards and control

  11. Excavation work and confined spaces – hazards and control

  12. Demolition work – hazards and control

Unit CN1 Assessment – NEBOSH Construction Certificate

The assessment for Unit CN1 is designed to test your ability to apply the knowledge and understanding gained during your studies of the NEBOSH Construction Certificate syllabus.

You will complete an Open Book Examination (OBE) based on a fictional construction site scenario. The assessment must be completed and submitted within 48 hours, although you are not required to complete it all in one sitting.

Your completed assignment will be internally assessed by NEBOSH.

Please note, it is your responsibility to submit the assessment within the specified timeframe. Any work not returned by the deadline will result in a fail for this part of the qualification.

NEBOSH Construction Course Duration and Support

When you enrol on the NEBOSH Construction Certificate, you’ll receive unlimited access to the course materials and 12 months of tutor support.

Most learners complete the qualification within 4 to 6 months, depending on their personal schedule and study time.
