The L3 Fire Risk Assessment Qualification is a nationally recognised qualification for individuals working in the fire risk assessment industry who carry out assessments in intermediate-risk buildings.
The qualification is designed to enable learners to demonstrate competence in line with BS 8674 – Framework for Competence of Individual Fire Risk Assessors, covering both the principles and practical application of intermediate fire risk assessment. Learners develop knowledge of legislation, fire hazards, control measures, human behaviour, and fire risk assessment reporting.
Assessment is internally assessed, pass/fail, and evidence-based, with no written examinations. Learners must complete two mandatory units and produce a portfolio demonstrating competence through real or simulated assessment activity, supported by assessor observation, professional discussion, and documented workplace evidence.
This qualification also provides a progression route into further fire safety training, including the NEBOSH FSC qualification.
