How is the IOSH Managing Safely Classroom Course Assessed?

Learners taking the IOSH Managing Safely Classroom Course will be assessed in two parts to ensure they can apply their knowledge both in theory and in practice.

Part 1: Knowledge Assessment

  • A 45-minute written assessment consisting of 30 questions in a variety of formats.

  • To pass, learners must achieve a minimum of 36 out of 60 marks.

  • Each learner is allowed two attempts at this paper.

Part 2: Practical Risk Assessment Project

  • Learners must complete a workplace risk assessment using the standard IOSH form.

  • The project is marked by our IOSH assessors against official IOSH criteria.

  • A minimum of 23 out of 36 marks is required to pass this element.

Certification

To successfully complete the qualification and be awarded the IOSH Managing Safely certificate, learners must pass both parts of the assessment.
